Ciencia de Datos y Fútbol

Hello World from Deep Soccer

Hi!

You’ve just landed on the Deep Soccer blog. I’m Miguel, a Doctor in Physics and a passionate enthusiast of Artificial Intelligence and football. I currently live in Germany and work in the field of Data Science. You can find my LinkedIn profile here. Through this space, I aim to share ideas related to Data Science and its application to the world of sports. As you well know, more and more clubs and sports-related organizations are using Data Science to boost athlete performance, optimize parameters, identify trends that aid in planning, etc. But the best part is that this field is still in its infancy.

It’s fascinating to think about where we might be 20–30 years from now. Will data science be able to accurately forecast future events in the sports world? Who knows. My opinion is that there are certain parameters, especially in our beloved sport of football, that remain uncontrollable. Does a player’s mood and mental state affect their performance? Obviously, yes. Will AI ever be able to account for this type of parameter? I doubt it. What seems clear is that more and more clubs are using Data Science to optimize their processes, and its usefulness is indisputable for making signings or preparing for matches.

In any case, I would like you to visit my website, Deep Soccer. The site has been created solely by me. It’s a project I’ve been working on for years, which has allowed me to learn a lot about Machine Learning and software development. I am excited to share it with you. On my YouTube channel, you’ll find video demonstrations of the applications I am developing, as well as programming tutorials at a beginner level.

A big hug to all,

Miguel

P.S.: The comments section is open, and I’d love to hear from you.
